Dallas G. Seas, age 89, died Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Brookview Manor in Brookings, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 14, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church in Brookings, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Sunday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Dallas Gail Seas was born July 1, 1918, in Brookings County, South Dakota to John Ralph and Mabel (Duff) Seas. He grew up on a farm in Brookings County and attended rural schools and White schools. He farmed until 1980 and then worked as a self-employed carpenter. He married Charlotte Trottman in Brookings on June 2, 1943. She died October 4, 2003. Dallas was an assistant 4-H leader and helped organize Prairie Farmers Club. He was on the Board of the Pork Council for ten years. He also served on various boards of the Farm Bureau, Farmers Union, Methodist Church, and District 41 Ullman School. Dallas enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and playing and watching baseball. Survivors include four children: Craig (Julie) Seas of Arlington, South Dakota, Dawne (Daniel) Lamp of Brookings, and Robyn (Larry) Emmett of Brookings, and Melodee (Jim) Lane of Groton, South Dakota; a brother, Roger (Beverly) Seas of Brookings; ten grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, Marvin and Vernon; two sisters, Phyllis and LaVonne; and three grandchildren.
