Dale Dixon, 63, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at the Impact Church in Aurora, beginning at 10:00 A.M.  Following the service there will be a time of fellowship at the church.  Interment will take place at Fairlawn Cemetery at a future date.  Visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, 2021, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M.  Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the Dixon family with arrangements.

Dale Gene Dixon was born on December 8, 1957, in Brookings, SD to Duane and Marlys (Goodroad) Dixon.  Dale attended school in Brookings, and graduated from the Brookings High School.  Throughout high school Dale loved muscle cars and motorcycles-a passion that would follow him throughout his life.  On June 3, 1976, Dale was united in marriage to the love of his life, Cindy Anundson.  The couple celebrated their 45 ^th wedding anniversary this year.

In 1977, Dale started working at the Aurora Body Shop, where he remained until he took ownership of the business.  Dale loved working on cars, owning the shop until his retirement.  Upon entering retirement, Dale started his "retirement business" of creating a gun shop, where he worked until this full retirement in 2019.

Dale was a long-standing member of the Aurora community.  He served many roles throughout his time in Aurora, including a City Councilman for many years and volunteering as a firefighter.  He also was the proud owner of Aurora Auto Body and D/C Guns & Sport.

In his free time Dale held many interests in life.  Ever the outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed camping, fishing, collecting guns, and taking pictures of sunrises.  Dale was well known by family and friends for his greetings containing sunrise pictures each morning.  Dale also enjoyed oil painting, cars, and motorcycles.  Perhaps his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.

Dale is survived by his wife, Cindy; daughters: Dawn (Chris) Hendrickson and Shannon (Adam) Freng; son, Travis (Lisa Olson) Dixon; his grandchildren, brother, Bruce (Carleen) Dixon; sister, Sandra (Steve) Whitaker; mother, Marlys Houtman; step-siblings: George (Ronda) Houtman, Tim Houtman, Brenda (Gene) Volkers, and Nanette Carr; mother-in-law Donna Anundson; sister-in-law Brenda (Steve) Torino; and many nieces and nephews.

Dale is preceded in death by his father, Duane Dixon; brother, Ron Dixon; father-in-law, Laverne Anundson; and step-father Gerald Houtman.
