Curtis J. Wilson, age 62, of Brookings, died Friday, February 15, 2008, at the United Retirement Center in Brookings. A military burial at Greenwood Cemetery will be held at a later date. Curtis Jerome Wilson was born January 8, 1946, at Sioux City, Iowa. He attended school through the 12th grade in Brookings. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in August 1970, and served in the Vietnam War. He was decorated with the U.S. Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon. He was discharged from the Marine Corps on September 26, 1974, in Oceanside California. He worked as an automobile salesman, and enjoyed collecting cars. Survivors include his sister, Janet R. Wilson, of Brookings, two nieces, a nephew, three great-nephews, and three great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leah Mae (Erickson) and Virgil C. Wilson, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
