He also served in the South Dakota National Guard for 12 years, reaching the rank of Captain. Clarence taught Vocational Agriculture at Roslyn High School from 1955 until 1963. During several of those years, he also served as acting principal. He continued to teach Vocational Agriculture at Volga High School from 1963 until 1964. Clarence loved the Lord and loved people; everyone he met was his friend. He was never without his latest joke or story, or a word of comfort. He was quick to share a blessing with whomever might need it. Clarence loved his family and friends, and was loved and cherished by each one of them. Throughout his life he served others in the hope that he might have some positive influence on their lives. His family believes he most assuredly did.
