Clara Wright, age 91, of White, died Sunday, February 5, 2006, at the White Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in White, with interment in Fairview Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-7 P.M. Wednesday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in White. Clara Alvina (Graslie) Wright was born September 23, 1914, in Brookings County, South Dakota, to Andrew and Maria (Rue) Graslie. She attended country schools in the Oak Lake area, and then worked for families in the area until her marriage to Melvin C. Wright on January 26, 1934, at Singsaas Lutheran Church near Hendricks, Minnesota. They farmed for many years on different farms in the area. They owned and operated a gas station-restaurant south of Pipestone before moving back to White and then to Rapid City where they worked for Rapid City Regional Hospital. They returned to White in 1972. Melvin died March 17, 2004. Clara was confirmed at Singsaas Lutheran Church and currently a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed camping and fishing, hosting company, and she was famous for her homemade doughnuts and lefse. Survivors include three sons and two daughters: Ann Petersen of Lake Benton, Minnesota, Clarice (Orlen) Borns of Milbank, South Dakota, Clifford (Judy) Wright of White, Jim Wright of Delta, Colorado, and Richard (Lynea) Wright of White; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Clara) Graslie, of San Jose, California; a step-brother, Stanley (LouElla) Kindler of Morton, Minnesota; and two step-sisters: Bernice Hickey of Mankato, Minnesota, and Mary Ann Sachett of Storden, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers: Oscar, Johnny, and Arthur Graslie; a sister, Mabel Okimoto; a son-in-law, Melvin Peterson; and twin infant grandchildren.
