Christian A. Rohrer III, age 80, of Elkton, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the Brookings Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Elkton, with interment in the Elkton City Cemetery. Visitations will be 5-8 P.M. Friday at Eidsness-Zink Funeral Chapel in Elkton. Christian Albert Rohrer III was born June 11, 1931, at Faribault, Minnesota, to Christian and Lydia (Hilleboe) Rohrer. He grew up at Waterville, Minnesota, where he graduated from high school in 1950. He received B.A. and B.S. degrees at Mankato State University, and then taught library science, social studies, and English at Elgin and Allendale, Minnesota. On August 26, 1967, he married Nancy Kruse at Mankato. She died September 6, 2011. Chris enjoyed reading, watching tv, and having the grandkids visit. Survivors include his three children: Heather Rohrer of Brookings, Holly (Will) Wydeck of Elkton, and Christian Rohrer IV of Brookings; five grandchildren: Alexis, Emma, Chloe, Tucker, and Sawyer; a brother, Tom (Jackie) Rohrer, of Phoenix, Arizona; and a sister, Jane Rohrer, of Kirkland, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
