Charles J. Bollwerk, age 76, formerly of White, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the Bryant Parkview Care Center in Bryant, South Dakota. No services are planned. Charles Jerome Bollwerk was born December 28, 1938, on the family homestead near Nenzel, Nebraska, to William J. and Helen C. Bollwerk. He lived on the farm in the Nebraska Sand Hills with his family until they moved to a farm between Martin and Mission, South Dakota. They operated a country store in Patricia and moved to Edgemont in 1949, where Charles graduated from high school in 1958. He served in the South Dakota Army National Guard until his honorable discharge. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia and resided at the state hospital in Yankton from 1959 until 1988, and at the White Healthcare Center from 1988 until July 2015. Survivors include a sister, Denise (Jack) Lynch, of Sonora, California; and four brothers: Joseph (Yvonne) Bollwerk of Rapid City, Don (Joann) Bollwerk of Aberdeen, Richard (Cory) Bollwerk of Valley Springs, and Albert "Bub" (Brenda) Bollwerk of Parker, Colorado.
