Carol D. Strande, age 81, of Volga, died Saturday, October 27, 2012, at the United Living Community in Brookings. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 2, 2012, at First Lutheran Church in Volga, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-7 P.M. Thursday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga. Carol (Dahl) Strande was born April 29, 1931, at Volga, South Dakota, to Edwin and Eva (Lee) Dahl. She attended Volga schools and graduated from Volga High School in 1949. On August 31, 1951, she married Lyle S. Strande at Volga. The Strandes lived in California for 44 years where Carol worked as a telephone operator and in electronics assembly. She and Lyle moved back to Volga in June 2000. Carol was a member of First Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing needlework, golf, travel, and reading. Survivors include her husband, Lyle, of Volga; a daughter, Paula Rae Strande of Volga; two sons: Douglas Strande of Bullhead City, Arizona, and Brian Strande of Corvallis, Montana; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Burton Dahl; and two sisters, Arlys Moe, and Myrle Bjorklund.
