Carol I. Roach, age 76, of Brookings, died on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at The Neighborhoods at Brookview. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-7 P.M. Thursday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Carol Ione Strande was born on July 17, 1937 at Volga, SD to Raymond and Evelyn (Sundet) Strande. She was raised in Volga with her two sisters and five brothers. Carol was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Volga. She attended Volga High School, where she enjoyed cheering on the Cossacks and playing trumpet in the band. Carol married Elwyn (Al) Roach on September 11, 1955 in Volga. She enjoyed raising her family and worked in the retail business for several years. Carol enjoyed attending all of her children and grandchildren's sporting events and activities. She spent many Sunday's cheering on her beloved Minnesota Vikings. Carol always felt so fortunate to live in the Brookings community where she has so many close friends. Her friends have shown her their never-ending support over the years. Carol always enjoyed her Bunco Club. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Brookings and was a long-time member of the Brookings Ladies Fireman's Auxiliary. Thankful for sharing in Carol's life are her husband, Al; her children, Steve (Shauna), Gregg (Tammy), Vicki (Tim) Jensen all of Brookings and Tom (Penny) of Foxfield, CO; her sisters, Dolly Oines of Volga, Camey (Larry) Chaddock of Everett, WA; her brothers, Lyle Strande of Volga, Russell (Shirley) Strande, Richard (Darla) Strande and Lloyd Strande all of Brookings; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John.
