Carol Adams Murra, 80, passed away May 31, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. There are no services planned at this time.
Carol was born July 10, 1939 to Lester and Alice Lucille (Norton) Adams at Jackson, MN. Carol grew up and attended schools in southeastern South Dakota, graduating from Lennox, SD High School in 1957. Carol was united in marriage to Gene Murra in 1958. They were blessed with four children.
Carol received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Pittsburg State University, in Pittsburg, KS. She went on to receive her Master's Degree in Art Therapy from Emporia State University, in Emporia, KS. She completed her internship at Menninger's Foundation in Topeka, KS. Carol practiced at West River Mental Health in Rapid City, Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, and Biscayne Rehabilitation Center in Miami, Fl. Although she loved Miami, Carol moved to Brookings in 1996 to be closer to her children. She worked at Advance and the Brookings High School Library until her retirement.
Carol was a very spiritual individual, a goddess in her own right. Her interests in reincarnation, history and the Lost City of Atlantis inspired her to write and publish a book entitled Letters from Atlantis, by Carol Adams.
Carol was a very kind soul and loved by all who knew her. She and her best friend, Maxine Blanch, remained close friends until Maxine's passing in 2011. Carol and Maxine's children remain close.
Carol is survived by her brothers, Stephen Adams and Richard Adams; her children, Gail Tischler, Lynne Del Rio, David (Sammie Wright) Murra, Susan (Michael Edman) Murra; her grandchildren: Andrew Tischler, Emily (Michael) Jaacks, Cairo Del Rio, Jamie Murra, Abigail Murra; two great-grandsons, Damian Fortugaliza and Elijah Jaacks.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; Lester and Lucille Adams, and her dear friend Maxine.
You have gone, but you will return.
You have slept, but you will awake.
You have died, but you will live.
