Obituary

Buehl Dave Davis, age 83, of Brookings, died Friday, March 20, 2009, at the Brookings Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment in First Lutheran Cemetery. Visitations will precede services at the church on Wednesday beginning at 9:30 A.M. Eidsness Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Buehl Dean Davis was born September 15, 1925, at Chelsea, South Dakota, to Oliver and Ann (Roe) Davis. He graduated from Cresbard High School in 1943 and attended SDSU for one semester. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1944 until 1946, in the European Theater of Operations in France and German. He served under General Eisenhower at the Supreme Allied Headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany.

Following the war, Buehl attended Mankato Commercial College. On February 20, 1948, he married Delila Jepsen at Mankato. Buehl worked for an employment office in Mankato, and moved to Brookings in August 1956. He managed the Kampus Kafe, worked at the Sawnee Hotel, and then worked for Svennes Construction for 25 years. Following his retirement, he delivered flowers for Sixth Street Florist.

Buehl was a member of First Lutheran Church since 1956 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He and Delila wintered in Alamo, Texas for 14 years.

Survivors include his wife, Delila Davis, of Brookings; four children: Barbara (Steve) Bublitz of Huron, South Dakota, Patricia (Don) Borgen of Veblen, South Dakota, Michael (Debra) Davis of Brookings, and Terri Davis of Rapid City, South Dakota; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beryl Carlson, of Kellogg, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Robert Carlson.
