Arden R. Bud Plymate died Thursday, December 30, 2004, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church in Brookings, with interment in Lakeview Cemetery at Clear Lake, South Dakota. Visitations will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Arden R. Plymate was born June 2, 1936, at home in Dixon, Nebraska, to Willard Calvin and Mary Alma (Karnes) Plymate. He married in 1953 and moved to Brookings in 1954. He worked for Bibbys Dairy and Terrace Park Dairy. He also ran a barber shop in Hayti, South Dakota, for a time. Bud married Lavonne Lou Steen Boerger in 1975. He retired from the SDSU Physical Plant. Survivors include his wife, Lavonne, of Brookings; a son, Kim (Karen) Plymate, of Piedmont, South Dakota; a daughter, Karla LaVigne, of Justin, Texas; two step-daughters: Jenny (Bryan) Hagen and Cindy (Brock) Petrie, both of Charlottesville, Virginia; two step-sons: Mike Boerger of Watertown, South Dakota, and Rick (Sheri) Boerger of Savage, Minnesota; 19 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a brother, Eldon (Mae) Plymate, of Chisago City, Minnesota; a sister, Ardyth Nielson, of Mitchell, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
