Bruce J. Burrell, age 86, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center in Estelline, SD.

Bruce J. Burrell was born in Montevideo, MN, on October 19, 1938, to Bob and Kareen Hacklander Burrell. He grew up with two siblings; Robert S. Burrell and Barbara Davis. Bruce attended and graduated from Dell Rapids High School, class of 1956. He started his college career with the School of Mines in Rapid City, SD and then transferred to South Dakota State University in Brookings after meeting Judy, his wife.  He graduated from SDSU in 1961.

After completing his education, Bruce began his career at JC Penny's where he worked for 15 years as a manager. He then worked as a manager with Coast to Coast Hardware (6 years) and Pamida (3 years) before purchasing "Chem Dry Carpet Cleaning" which became Burrell's Chem Dry and Burrell's Janitorial.  Bruce spent his final work-years at Walmart and SDSU in Brookings.

Through his life, Bruce was a member of Methodist churches.  He was an SDSU Football and Basketball fan. He did a lot of traveling for various business conferences as well as pleasure trips with his wife to the Black Hills and Canada.

Survivors include Bruce's wife, Judy Burrell of Brookings; his children: Barry (Dawn) Burrell of Brooklyn Park, MN; Patty Burrell of Sioux Falls, SD; Pam (Johnnie) Wells of Colorado Springs, CO; and Bradley Burrell of Castlewood, SD.  Bruce is also survived by his sister, Barb Davis of Dell Rapids; 8 grandkids: Bryan, Brandon, Zachary, Hayden, Savanah, Kevin, Jasmine and Josh; as well as 6 great-grandchildren: Aubrie, Autumn, Hadley, River, Easton and Maverick.

Bruce was proceeded in death by his parents, Bob and Kareen Burrell, and his brother, Robert S. Burrell.
