Brian D. Pavel, age 28, of Brookings, died Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, of injuries received in a construction accident in Brookings. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 5, 2007, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brookings. Visitations will be from 4-7 P.M. Sunday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. A second funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Rapid City, with interment in Bear Butte Cemetery at Sturgis, South Dakota. Visitations will be from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City, with the family present from 6-8 P.M. Memorials will be given in Brians memory to the W.E.L.S. Lutheran Student Center in Brookings and the National Save The Mustang Fund. Brian Douglas Pavel was born February 2, 1979, at Yankton, South Dakota, to Douglas J. and Carol L. (Euerle) Pavel. Shortly thereafter, he moved with his parents to the Black Hills. He attended school in Sturgis, and graduated from Sturgis Brown High School in 1998. He graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings in 2002 with a degree in Range Management. He worked for the Bureau of Land Management in Idaho and then spent three and a half years as an agricultural research technician at SDSU. He had most recently worked for Mills Construction in Brookings. Brian was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brookings. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hiking, photography and working with his wild mustangs. Survivors include his parents, Doug and Carol Pavel, of Whitewood, South Dakota; a sister, Katie Pavel, of Brookings; grandmothers: Joan Pavel of Tabor, South Dakota, and Florence Euerle of Sturgis, South Dakota; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ray Pavel and Ed Euerle.
