IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Billy "Bill"
Bumann
February 3, 1949 – December 24, 2021
Bill Bumann, age 72, of Brookings and formerly of Oldham and Lake Preston, died December 24, 2021, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls of kidney failure.
Bill was born on February 3, 1949, at Lake Preston to Roy and Genevieve (Peterson) Bumann. He graduated from Oldham High School in 1967 and farmed near Oldham for over 40 years. He married Karen Schulz in 1992, and they lived near Lake Preston until moving to Brookings in 2018.
His passions were wildlife and nature from an early age, and then hunting and becoming an expert on antique lever-action Winchester firearms. He attended gun shows for many years and was a willing resource for many individuals interested in hunting and gun collecting.
Bill is survived by his wife Karen of Brookings; sister Ann Lingbeck of Madison; and nephews and nieces.
No visitation or services are planned as he requested. Per his wishes, his cremains will be released into the breezes in the mountains above Meeteetse, Wyoming, where he hunted mule deer and elk, and enjoyed time with close friends every autumn for over 30 years. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the Bumann family with arrangements.
