Betty Lou Johnson, age 84, of Brookings, passed away, Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Avera Mckennan Hospital in Sioux Falls after suffering a stroke. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Visitations will be one hour prior to the funeral service.

Betty was born December 23, 1932, to Ralph and Lillian (Reiman) Davis in Muncie, Indiana. She grew up in Muncie, and married Clayton Johnson on November 17, 1950.   They started their family in Muncie and in 1962, they moved to California. In 1985, Betty and Clayton moved to South Dakota where they eventually settled in Brookings.   They have been living at Sunchase Apartments; a place in which they loved dearly.

Betty loved fishing, putting together puzzles, and playing bingo. She adored her family and the time that they could spend together.

Survivors include her husband, Clayton of Brookings; children, Donna Cohen of Holidaysburg, PA, Nancy (Terry) Swenson of Elkton, SD, and Sharon Kay Johnson of Gary, SD; daughter-in-law, Diana Johnson of Riverside, CA; one brother, James Leo Davis of Muncie, Indiana; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Tony and Clayton, Jr.; four brothers, Raymond, Homer, Milford, and Harold; and one sister, Ruby.
