Bette Jo Boynton, age 78, of Brookings, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021, at the Brookings Hospital.  No services are planned at this time. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bette was born on April 26, 1942, to Ray and Diana Marie (Hein) Moyer in Illinois.  She attended school in Oakford Illinois.  Bette met Kenneth Boynton at the laundry mat while Ken was working construction in Illinois.  The couple married and moved to South Dakota.  They had two children, Penny and Kenny.  They later divorced.

Bette worked for the Medary Laundry Mat and also worked at the Donut Barn.  She was also the first woman bus driver for the Brookings School System in the 1970's.  Bette was an avid fan of Nascar.

Survivors include her daughter, Penny Teal; son, Kenny Boynton; grandson, Matthew (Kristen) Teal; and 2 great-grandchildren, Teagen and Triggen.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Tom.
