Obituary

Bert Ervin Kreitlow, age 57, of White, died unexpectedly in Aberdeen on Saturday, October 24, 2015, of a brain aneurysm. Visitations will be held at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in White, SD on Thursday, October 29th, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2015, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in White, SD with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Eidsness Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Bert was born October 5, 1958, to Ivan Henry and Emily (Loghry) Kreitlow in Clarion, Iowa. He graduated from Wall Lake High School in Wall Lake, Iowa in 1976. After graduation, Bert began working for a custom combining crew. He traveled through Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Montana, and Canada combining wheat. In the late 1980s, Bert moved to South Dakota where he worked on various farms. In 1991, Bert moved to White, SD and began working for Goodyear Tire in Brookings. In May of 1992, he married Joan Graslie in White, SD and divorced in July, 2008. They were blessed with two daughters. Bert began working at Larson Manufacturing in 1994, where he worked until the time of his death. Bert was very devoted to whatever activity his daughters were involved with; and he never missed a game. Bert enjoyed gardening, attending sporting events, and golfing. He was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, where he served on various boards and volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher. Bert was also a member of the White Community Club. Survivors include his daughters Melanie Kreitlow, Aberdeen SD; Lindsey Kreitlow, Astoria SD; mother Emily Kreitlow, The Neighborhoods, Brookings, SD; siblings: Jim (Joyce) Kreitlow, Iowa; Joyce Hughes, Iowa; Betty (Gary) Adair, Oklahoma; Karen Christo (Ed Purdy), Texas; Melinda (Russel) Franke, Colorado; Charlie (Laree) Kreitlow; Wendy (George) Barner, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Bert was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Kreitlow; grandfather Fred Kreitlow and Grandmother Alma Kreitlow. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and may be directed to Six Mile Creek Golf Course or Fairview Cemetery.Condolences may be sent to PO Box 116 Astoria, SD, 57213.
