Visitations will be 5-8 P.M. on Monday, February 1, 2021, also at the church. Masks will be encouraged at both services. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Benjamin Lowell Sahr was born to Paul and Stacy (Woodbury) Sahr on April 12, 2005 in Sioux Falls SD.  Ben peacefully entered heaven on January 27, 2021, surrounded by his family.  While the last five years of his life were courageously spent fighting, Ben's life is not defined by his cancer.

Ben attended Peace Lutheran Early Childhood Center, Sioux Valley Elementary, Middle School and High School. He loved science, art, and gym. The rest served as social time with friends. Those friends meant the world to him.

Many of Ben's activities were spent outside. He loved playing sports and looked forward to every season of football, basketball, baseball, and golf. During the summer you could either find him fishing, chilling on the pontoon, or riding the jet ski at Okoboji with his grandparents or at Lake Poinsett with his friends. Fall was spent hunting and winter was spent ice fishing or riding snowmobile. In February 2020, Ben received, as he called it, a 'sexy ass' fishing boat from Make-A-Wish South Dakota so he could go fishing whenever he wanted!

Ben loved sports through and through. He would always cheer on his beloved Detroit Lions and Minnesota Twins whenever they played. Ben went to several Twins games and in 2016 Ben got the chance of a lifetime: going to see the Detroit Lions DEFEAT the Vikings (in overtime) on Thanksgiving Day on their home turf, Ford Field.

Even though Ben's journey was challenging, he never stopped thinking about other kids going through the journey of cancer. In 2017, Ben challenged his Physical Therapist to a push-up contest at the Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon and thus began the Push-up for Pledges Contest. Over the next three years Ben (along with the help of a many friends) raised a total of $20,000 for kids and families receiving care at Sanford Children's hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Ben will forever be remembered by his family for his sense of humor. From telling an old lady his missing leg was caused by a shark attack, teasing his sister-in-law about how delicious her Oreo balls were, along with plenty of, what Ben calls, 'Bad Dad Jokes'.

Ben was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and actively lived out his faith. His confirmation day was a joyous family celebration. Fittingly, his confirmation verse came from Matthew 4:19, "Then He said to them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." His faith helped him fight every day. He knew the promise of life eternally in Heaven.

Ben is survived by his parents Paul and Stacy, of Volga his brothers Kaig (Kayla) Havrevold of Sioux Falls, Seth, and Jake of Volga, grandparents Lowell and Wanda (Hieronimus) Woodbury of Spirit Lake, IA and Gary and Sandie (Stroh) Sahr of Jamestown, ND. His aunts and uncles, Marnie and Sheldon Mohr and Jen and CJ Sahr. Cousins, Jorgan Mohr, Baleigh and Noah Sahr. His family is grateful for the time he got to spend with his girlfriend, Bridget Eschen.

Ben was proceeded in death by his Uncle Adam Woodbury and his great-grandparents.
