Belle Q. Hegan, age 99, died Saturday, February 7, 2004, at Brookview Manor in Brookings, South Dakota. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 12, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, with Rev. Teri Johnson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Laurel Mountain Cemetery in Laughlintown, Pennsylvania. Belle was born August 13, 1904, at Mansfield, Pennsylvania, to Elmer and Emma (Wilt) Queer. Upon graduation from school she worked as a Bell Telephone operator. In 1928, she married John I. Hegan, and they lived for 67 years in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, where they owned and operated an electrical appliance store. In 1997, they moved to Brookings, South Dakota. John died May 17, 1996. A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, Belle was active in the womens groups and Heritage United Methodist Golden Agers. She was a member of the Fort Ligonier Chapter of the Eastern Star, the Ligonier Historical Society, Ligonier Womens Club, and the Happy Travelers Club. She served as a docent for Fort Ligonier. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy (William) Wadsworth, of Brookings, South Dakota; four grandsons; three great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, her parents, three sisters, and five brothers,
