Barbara J. Nelson, age 49, of White, died Sunday, December 20, 2015, at Sanford/USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Visitations will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. No formal services are planned.

Barbara Jean (McGhghy) Nelson was born September 12, 1966, at Beloit, Kansas, to Lloyd and Marlene (Dennison) McGhghy. She graduated from high school in Plainville, Kansas. She received training to be a Certified Nursing Assistant and then worked in Phillipsburg and Stockton, Kansas. She also worked as a housekeeper. In 2007 she moved to White and worked at the Hendricks Nursing Home as a CNA. She enjoyed drawing.

Survivors include her four children: Kasey (Kevin) Kulla of Hartford, South Dakota, David (Lexi) Nelson of Hartford, Sierra (Zak) Brown of White, and Rachelle (Colton) Nelson) of Stockton, Kansas; six grandchildren: Jaxon, Blake, Kamden, Korbin, Colton, and Kiley; two sisters: Dorothy (Patrick) Lauber of Osborne, Kansas, and Cindy (LeRoy) Buser of Mankato, Kansas; and nephews and niece: Michael, Jamie, Matthew, Jonathan, Nicholas, and Shawn Lauber, and Tanya Buser. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David.
