IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Ann
Krumrei
August 2, 1947 – March 15, 2016
Barbara Ann Krumrei, age 68, of Brookings passed from this earth in the arms of her family to the Lord on March 15, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in Arlington. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016, at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls. Burial will follow at Hills of Rest Memorial Park. Visitations will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings and two hours prior to the funeral at the church on Monday.
Barbara was born August 2, 1947, in Brookings, SD to Lawson and Gloria (Derr) Krumrei. Her early years were spent on the farm by Colman, SD. Barbara was always a big sister to Betty and JoAnn. Even during trying times, the one thing the Krumrei sisters could count on was Barbara. How do we go on without you? Your faith in the Lord and promises of life eternal where we will be together someday gives us strength.
Barbara lived in Sioux Falls, SD, for many decades. She enjoyed working at the Sioux Valley Hospital (Now Sanford Hospital) as a dietary cook. She worked at that job until her health forced her into early disability.
Barbara's life was shared by her special friend Gerhardt Stark. Gerhardt passed in 2002. Barbara's life was also shared by many friends and family. Mention a gathering, party, or church doing and Barbara would be the first to jump in and get started. Barbara's love of cooking served many through the years – and those that enjoyed will never forget her fleisch keikla… or her chef noodles. Old fashioned cooking was her specialty, and she loved to cook!
One especially great thing about Barbara was her smile. As many know, there were many health challenges for Barbara her entire life. From the very young age to her final days, no matter what, Barbara would not complain. In fact, she wore a smile which could bring even the saddest back to smiles. Her faith in the Lord kept her and those around her strong.
Survivors include Barbara's one son, Clinton (Mary) Wiersch of Idaho. With her family and Gerhardt's family there are 22 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Wendlyn) Behrens of Brookings and JoAnn (Mike) Santema of Volga; and many nieces and nephews have enriched and given meaning to family and to Barbara. She was preceded in death by her parents.
