Audrey Kellogg, formerly of Brookings, passed away October 31, 2016, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. She was 79. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, at Eidsness Funeral Home with burial to follow at St. Thomas More Catholic Cemetery.  Visitations will precede the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Friday. ?

Audrey Mae Frank was born September 18, 1937, in Codington County, South Dakota, to Phillip and Cathrine (Neilsen) Frank.  She grew up in Castlewood and graduated from high school there. She married Raymond Shroll on September 3, 1956, in Brookings, where they spent the majority of their married life and raised their four children. For many years, Audrey worked at Harold's Printing and later at 3M. Raymond passed away in 1988.

On November 18, 1989, Audrey married Fred Kellogg in Brookings. They spent summers at Lake Poinsett and enjoyed spending winters in Weslaco, Texas, where they made many dear friends. Fred passed away in 1999.  Audrey eventually settled in Weslaco year-round with her partner, Virgil Kappes, until health concerns with Parkinson's disease brought her back to South Dakota. Most recently, she had been a resident of Bethany Meadows in Brandon.

Audrey had a winning smile and laugh and was very social. She especially enjoyed chatting on the phone as well as playing cards with her Texas friends and her grandchildren. During her years in Brookings, she was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons, Kirby (Debby) Shroll of Sioux Falls and Patrick (Cynthia) Shroll of Brentwood, California; her daughter, Jill (Mike) Moldenhauer of Wilmot; her partner, Virgil Kappes of Weslaco, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond Shroll and Fred Kellogg; her daughter, Shelly Warner; her siblings, Phyllis Gates and Girwin Frank; and her parents.
