Obituary

Audrey Luverne Cook was born on January 16, 1932, to Alman and Amy (Van Deusen) Cook in Brookings, South Dakota.  Audrey was the third of seven siblings.

Audrey attended school in Brookings until her senior year, when the family moved Aberdeen.  Audrey completed her high school diploma at Aberdeen Central High, and went on to earn her AA degree with teaching credentials from Northern State Teachers College, where she taught in a country school setting.

Audrey met Charles (Chuck) Fraser, and the couple were married on November 7, 1950.  Chuck soon left for active duty service in the Army, and was stationed in Korea where he served with valor and was awarded the Purple Heart.  After his duty in Korea, he and Audrey lived in Colorado Springs until his honorable discharge from the Army.  Following Chuck's discharge, the couple moved to northern California, soon settling in Klamath Falls, Oregon, where their one and only child, Wendy Luverne Fraser, was born.  Shortly after Wendy's birth the family moved and settled in the Rapid City area where Audrey was employed as a secretary, business owner, and ultimately a career with the State of South Dakota in the judicial system, working her way up to Clerk of Courts in Brookings County, making a full circle back to Brookings.

Audrey married the love of her life, Harold (Andy) Anderson, on April 3, 1980, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  They lived at their three acre parcel in Aurora, South Dakota where Andy passed away in April of 2004.  Audrey remained in her home until her death on January 18, 2021, surrounded by her daughter Wendy, son-in-law Tom, and her Hospice nurse, Kris.  There are currently no services planned.

Audrey is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Tom) Henley; sisters: Phyllis Blomeyer and Nancy (Marvin) Hargens; brothers: Jerry Cook and Gayle (Bernice) Cook; very special friend, Janet (Troy) Borchard; grandchildren: Heather (Brandon) Prime, Richard (Jennifer) Richardson, and Charla (Jonathan) Shippey; great-grandchildren: Kaysondria Curnutt, Wade Martin, Staff Sargent Gracyn Martin, Sargent Hayden Martin, Sabrina (Alex) Jones, Destiney Rose (Nathan) Richardson, Maddelyne Richardson, Nathan (Paige) Charette, Tyler (Reana) Shippey, Savannah (Phillip) Castanon, Chance Charette, Gabriel Shippey, and Victoria (John) Job; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
