Artis Walton, of Brookings, passed away on October 10, 2022, at Edgewood Vista in Brookings at the age of 90.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Brookings, at 10:30 A.M.  A time of fellowship and a meal will be served immediately following the service at the church.  A graveside service will be held at the Webster Cemetery in Webster, South Dakota on the same day as services at approximately 2:00 P.M.  Visitation will be held the evening prior, Sunday, October 16, 2022, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.

Artis Walton was born on a farm north of Bristol, SD to Floyd & Alicie (Goff) Esche on June 3, 1932. Was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Evangelical Lutheran Church at Bristol, SD. Attended school at Bristol, SD. Married Marvin E Walton on December 13, 1949 at Wheatland, WY.

Artis and Marvin resided at the Walton family farm where they raised a son and 4 daughters. Artis was an active member of the Church in Wallace, SD until she moved to Brookings in July of 2007. She became an active member of the Ascension Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included embroidery and quilting at the church.

Survivors include 4 daughters, Mrs. (Bruce) Donna Neyhart of Brookings, SD - Linda Schulte of Sioux Falls, SD -  Sally Taylor of Lake Stevens, WA,- Mrs. (Ross) Gloria Sales of Grimes, IA; 3 sisters, Rose Henze of Vermillion, SD - Mrs. (Jim) Barbara Timms of Owasso, OK - Diane Drobny of Aberdeen SD; 1 sister-in-law Marlene Knudtson of Pierre, SD; 11 grandchildren , DaNene (Tim)  Connolly, Angela  Kling, Keith (Sue) Kunst, Andrew (Mandy) Neyhart, Matthew Schulte, Teresa (Kevin Unser) Schulte, Jason (Jenny) Schulte, Sean Taylor, Christopher (Katie) Taylor, Sara (Mike) Gross & Daniel (Ashley) Sales; 15 great-grandchildren, Heather, Shelby, Chevelle, Jonathon, Jay, Emma W, Emma K, Lacey, Oreona, Henry, Carmen, Ezri, Kenzie, Alex & Ander; 6 great-great-grandchildren, Casey, Evalyn, Hayden, Paisley, James & Jonathan.  She was preceded in death by her husband, son,  parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and several aunts & uncles.
