Arlene Marie (Brunick) Gruseth, 84 of Volga, SD died peacefully Saturday September 4, 2022 at the University of Minnesota Hospital. Arlene Brunick was born August 2, 1938 to Tideman R. and Ane Christine (Jensen) Brunick. She was baptized at the Highland Lutheran Church at Brandt, SD and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington. Arlene attended rural school at District 44, Spring Lake #1 also known as the Four-Corners school and graduated from Arlington High School in 1956. In 1960 she married Donald Gruseth in Arlington SD and lived in Arlington 1 year before moving to Sinai in 1961. They were blessed with three daughters Bethany, Camilla and Janet.

Arlene was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church in Volga, SD and was active in choir, and many other community service organizations. She raised her family and later was known as one of most proficient seamstresses at Milaca Mills. Arlene loved singing in choir, community dances, cooking, baking, playing bridge and Fridays with great friends, and was active in many community organizations including 4-H. Arlene was incredibly creative and talented, able to complete any art and craft projects she decided to try. She loved golfing, having great times with friends and was famous for many things but especially her genealogy work and amazing cooking. Family gatherings were a display for her gifts and she always made something special for every person in attendance. She was grateful to have spent her life with Don Gruseth, her husband of 57 years and enjoyed attending sports and events of their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, Don Gruseth, daughter Janet Gruseth, her parents, brothers Leonard and Benard Brunick, three sisters, Edna Lee, Virginia Gunderson and Helen Syverson.

Arlene was survived by children, Bethany (Lonnie) Sundberg of Arlington, SD and Camilla (Paul) Gunderson of Minnetonka, MN; four grandchildren, Tara (Mark) Jensen of Canton, SD, Brooke (Nathan) Rozeboom of Larchwood, Iowa, and Ben & Jack Gunderson of Minneapolis, MN; five great-grandchildren, Reagan, Jordyn and Maren Jensen, and Kade and Aubrey Rozeboom; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Arlene Gruseth will be Friday, September 9, at 2:00 pm at First Lutheran Church in Volga, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the funeral at 1:00 pm.
