Anthony "Tony" White Sr. proud father of Kristine Baltzer, Tony White II and Peggy Hewitt, passed peacefully in his home November 17th, 2025.
Anthony "Tony" White Sr. was born in Sioux Falls, SD in 1950 to Lawrence and Lucille (Gregory) White. He grew up in the Sioux Falls area, where he went on to help start the Project Threshold and formed an at-risk youth support group at the Firehouse Coffee House Sioux Falls. Tony married Virginia Bear King (Ginny Ostermeier) in 1973. He moved to Brookings shortly after and worked in the mobile home industry, owned the Sew n Vac, obtained his chemical dependency counselor education at SDSU. Tony worked as a counselor at the Brookings Referral Center. He returned to his calling as a carpenter, plumber and learned the HVAC trade. Tony made HVAC his main focus where he established Tony's Repair.
Tony was a devoted and loving father to Kristi, Tony and Peggy; grandfather to Adam J. Kipp, Dylan Kipp, Sammy Schott, Tony White III; grandpa guy and great papa to Aleyah Kipp, Saphira Kipp, Daya White, Anthony White IV, Lukas Kipp who dearly miss him and the life lessons he imparted to them.
Among them was embracing the Native American traditions to teach his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren their heritage. Tony took great pride in being a part of the community, especially helping where could. He had over 50 years of recovery and helped many as a sponsor. Tony never stopped trying to be a good man, it was important to him to always be kind to others. He was known to embrace spirituality over the years, taking great pride in his involvement in many Native American ceremonies.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Lucille White, sisters, Beth Serrioz, Patricia Schmida, Jeanne Hellerud and Connie White.
He is survived by his; siblings, Mike (Elaine) White of Brookings, Mary (Russ) Poppenga of Sioux Falls, Kathy (Dave) Asay of Sioux Falls, Susan Campbell of Jackson, MN; children, Kristine (Jason) Baltzer of Sioux Falls, Anthony White II of Brookings and Peggy Hewitt (Troy) of Carthage, SD; grandchildren, Adam (Jennifer) J Kipp of Sioux Falls, SD, Dylan (Rachel) Kipp of Omaha, NE, Sammy (India) Schott, Anthony White III, Chenoa Ostermeier of Sioux Falls, SD, Abby, Deneikah, Angie Ostermeier all of Pipestone, MN; great -grandchildren, Aleyah, Saphira and Lukas Kipp, Anthony White IV, Daya White and family-friends, Gary and Annette Ray.

A Visitation will take place from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with a Memorial Service starting at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, SD.
