Anne Vanden Berg, age 98, went to her heavenly home on March 28, 2016.  Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 1 st at the Christian Reformed Church in Volga, SD, with interment in Trinity Cemetery.  Visitations will be from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Thursday at The Neighborhoods at Brookview and from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga, and prior to the service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the Volga Christian Reformed Church or to the Volga Christian School.

Anne (Den Otter) Vanden Berg was born on December 23, 1917, on a farm Southwest of Volga, SD to John and Tuena (Zelman) Den Otter.  Her Dutch given name was Annigje.  Anne grew up in the Volga area, attended country school graduating from the 8 th grade.

Anne married Jerry Vanden Berg on December 30, 1943.  They farmed North of Brookings for 21 years and North of Volga for 13 years.  Anne and Jerry continued farming until 1976 after which they built a home in Volga.  They traveled to Arizona for 24 winters.  They also were campground hosts at Lake Oakwood State Park for nine years.  They were awarded a plaque in 2000 for Volunteer of the Year Award from the SD Division of Parks and Recreation.  They retired a second time and moved into Sandcreek in Volga.  Anne moved into Park Place Assisted Living in 2011 and then into the Neighborhoods at Brookview in 2013 where she resided until her death.

Anne was active in the Volga Christian Reformed Church as well as in the Maranatha Christian Reformed Church in Meza, AZ.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed needlework, baking, cooking, reading, flowers, chalk-art ceramics, and watercolor painting.

Anne was greatly loved by her family and friends and will be remembered for her sweet spirit and her kindness to everyone.  She was a prayer warrior whose walk in life represented her love of Christ.

Anne is survived by her family: Ardith & Bob Van Beek of Volga, daughter Lisa of Colorado Springs, CO; Calvin and Linda Vanden Berg of Shorewood, IL, children Chad & Megan Vanden Berg (Ella, Ty, Cooper) of Dunn, NC; Jarod & Heather Vanden Berg (Alexis, Cassidy, Logan) of Channahon, IL; Cory & Erin Ralls (Michael, Shirley, Ginger) of Channahon, IL; and Marla Vanden Berg of Tempe, AZ.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, in 2011, son-in-law Mark Knight, sisters Nellie Vanden Berg, Josie Adolphson, Gertrude Wyman, Annie Vander Wal, and brothers John Den Otter, John Baker, Cornelius Baker, Johan Baker, Henry Den Otter.
