Anna Margreta (Hollander) Steuck was born December 5, 1911, at Elkton, South Dakota, to Henry and Meta (Schmidt) Hollander. She was raised on the farm and attended school through the eighth grade. On October 5, 1932, she was united in marriage to William Steuck in Elkton. William died in 1962 while they were still on the farm. Anna then moved into Brookings where she worked at the Brookings Hospital until retiring in March of 1974.
Awhile after retirement she moved into Southland Court Apartments. In March, 2002, she moved into Greenleaf Assisted Living and in December 2002, after a fall, she moved into Brookview Manor where she became a resident.
Anna was a life-long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elkton, South Dakota, being baptized, confirmed, married, and buried from there. Anna was an excellent farmers wife, good cook, and helper. She also liked to travel with her husband and later traveled herself to several worlds fairs and Europe. Annas father was an immigrant, so the German language came easy. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents, Henry and Meta; her twin sister, Edna; and brother-in-law, Ernest. She will be remembered by a host of nieces and nephews, both Hollanders and Steucks, and a lot of friends. The family will be giving memorials in her name to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
