Anna Marie (Sowers) Montgomery, 79, Brookings, SD went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 26, 2020, at the Avera McKennen Hospital in Sioux Falls. Private graveside services will be 10:30 am on Friday November 6, 2020 at the Fairview Cemetery in White, SD. Memorial services to follow at 11:30 am at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, the service will be live streamed on the Eidsness Funeral Home Facebook page, and also recorded and posted to the Eidsness Funeral Home website. In an effort to ensure the safety of all those in attendance at the services, the family requests that masks be worn.
Anna Marie was born on February 28 th , 1941 in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter to James Bradley and Anna Rachel (VanHorn) Sowers. Anna Marie was the oldest of six children. Anna Marie accepted Christ as her Savior at age nine while attending Carol Baptist Church in Atchison, Kansas and lived a life led by her relationship with the Lord. After graduation from Atchison High School in 1959, Anna attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, MN. This is where Anna met her love Harvey Clarence Montgomery. Anna graduated from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in 1965 and a year later Anna and Harvey were married on June 10 th , 1966. Anna and Harvey were blessed with four children beginning in 1970 to 1978. Anna's life was spent loving and taking care of Harvey and her children. Anna Marie also became "Annie" to several children, whom she loved like her own, over a span of 20 plus years with her in home daycare
Anna is survived by her husband Harvey of Brookings, SD; four children: Bradley of Brookings, SD, Valerie Stadnick and husband Jeffrey of Granbury, TX, Jennifer Prezuhy and husband John of Basking Ridge, NJ, and Paul Montgomery and wife Kari of Guymon, OK; four siblings: Bradley Sowers and wife Sharon of Atchison, KS, David Sowers and wife Debbie of Saint Joseph, MO, Jerry Sowers of Atchison, KS, Nancy Klassen and husband Delbert of Bingham Lake, MN; five cherished grandchildren: David, Maegann, and Andrew Stadnick; Emma and Jameson Montgomery.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Neil Douglas Sowers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Eidsness Funeral Home to be designated at a later time.
