Obituary

Andrew "Andy" Molengraaf, 88, of Volga, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the Brookings Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the Christian Reformed Church in Volga at 10:30 AM. Burial will immediately follow the service at Trinity Cemetery in Volga. Andrew "Andy" Molengraaf was born on January 23, 1934, in Brandon, South Dakota, the son of Adam and Hermina (Volkers) Molengraaf.

Andy received his education in Iowa, rural Brookings school, and later in Arlington, South Dakota. He was united in marriage to Henrietta Niemann on May 12, 1961, in Castlewood, South Dakota. Andy worked at the Community Oil Company and the Volga Creamery for many years until owning and operating Jackrabbit Tire Co. for 18 years, retiring in 1999.

He is a member of the Christian Reformed Church and also served as Deacon in the church. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, flowers, volunteering, crafts, and bowling. He received several bowling trophies over the years and also the People Helping People Award. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Andy is survived by his wife, Henrietta, of Volga; children: Steven (Bonnie) Molengraaf, of Watertown, SD, Ronald Molengraaf, of Clear Lake, SD, Terry (Sallie) Molengraaf, of Volga, SD, Beverly (Calvin) Cook, of Brookings, SD, Dennis Molengraaf, of Watertown, SD, Curtis (Laura) Molengraaf, of Kranzburg, SD, and Misty Larson, of Brookings, SD; 17 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers: Albert (Lorraine) Molengraaf, of Volga, SD, Fred Molengraaf, of Brookings, SD, Harry (Alice Ann) Molengraaf, of White, SD, and John (Diane) Molengraaf, of Volga, SD; sisters: Fannie Janssen, of Volga, SD and Betty Scott, of Sinai, SD; and sisters-in-law: Sandy Molengraaf and Vickie Molengraaf.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank and Joe; sister, Adrianna; brothers-in-law: Henry and Larry; grandson, Benjamin; daughter-in-law, Sandy Molengraaf; and his son-in-law, Jeff Larson.
