IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andrew "Andy"
Benjamin Trump
November 28, 1950 – October 27, 2021
Andrew (Andy) Benjamin Trump, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on October 27 th , 2021 at the Sanford hospital in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brookings. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
An almost lifelong resident of Brookings, he was born at the Brookings hospital on November 28, 1950, the 4 th child of Anne A. and Alfred G. Trump. He grew up in Brookings attending local schools (Hillcrest Elementary, Brookings Jr. and Sr. High School), graduating with the BHS Class of 1970. While in high school he played trombone in the high school band. He was especially active in the drama department and appeared in more than one theatrical production.
After a brief stint away from Brookings, he returned to attend SDSU, majoring in English and Speech/Drama. He earned a BS degree and did some post-graduate work there. He again left his hometown to travel to New York City where he worked briefly and explored the theater world.
His next endeavor was to become an English instructor for the University of Maryland Global Campus at U.S. military bases in Scotland (briefly) and Germany for several years. Andy particularly enjoyed his time in Germany, where he was able to travel extensively and visit with German relatives of his sister-in-law, becoming fluent in German and a part of the family there.
His return to the U.S. brought him to Fargo, ND where he became an English instructor for NDSU for several years. During this time he commuted several times a year to Brookings to visit his parents while they were still alive.
Andy also maintained his membership in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brookings at all times. He was baptized and confirmed there, served as an acolyte in his teens, and in later in life became a lay reader. After his retirement from NDSU, St. Paul's became the center of his life and he was a willing and useful congregant who participated in almost all the church activities.
A special talent that Andy possessed was his amazing memory and recall of events and connections, even those activities that he had not been a part of. The Trump family has lost a valuable resource for family history in his passing. He maintained a wide range of email friends and relatives that he kept up with relentlessly. Any major event occurring close to anyone on his list would generate an email with commentary to follow quickly.
Preceded in death by his parents, Andy is survived by his siblings Michael A. (Norma) Trump of Medford, OR; Peter A. Trump of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Jeane (Trump) Gautier of Marana, AZ. Also six nieces and nephews, and several cousins, all of whom will be missing him and his inimitable and quirky correspondence. Sleep well, dear brother; and know that you will be remembered kindly by all who knew and loved you.
Any donations in Andy's memory should be directed to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brookings.
