Alver Kalousek, age 87, of Elkton, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 28, 2011, at the United Parish of Elkton, with the interment in the Elkton City Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-7 P.M. Sunday at Eidsness-Zink Funeral Chapel in Elkton. Alver Frank Kalousek was born May 26, 1924, to Frank and Pauline (Laabs) Kalousek in Alton Township, Brookings County, South Dakota. He attended country school. Alver worked for his uncle and the elevator in White, South Dakota. Alver married Violet Thomsen in 1954. They farmed all their married life. Violet died June 16, 2008. Survivors include his son, Frank Kalousek of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; two granddaughters: LiAnne Larson of California, and Sarah Hemmer of Egan, South Dakota; four great-grandchildren: Ian, Ashleigh, Emma, and Owen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet; two sisters: Anna Suurmeyer, and Helen Vierhuf.
