Adolph V. Peterson, age 79, died Monday, May 17, 2010, at his home north of Elkton, South Dakota. Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Brookings. Visitations will be 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.
Adolph Verlyn Peterson was born July 30, 1930, at Arlington, South Dakota, to Adolph and Anna Kathrina (Anderson) Peterson. He graduated from Brookings High School in 1948. On May 25, 1952, he married LaVonne Olson at Brookings. They farmed north of Elkton and operated ALP Hunting. Adolph operated Peterson Trucking from 1969 until 1984, and he sold DeKalb seed corn for over 50 years. Lavonne died January 6, 2000.
Survivors include two daughters: Jan (Mark) Selken of Elkton, South Dakota, and Mari (Keith) Linden of Sierra Vista, Arizona; two sons: Reid (Judy) Peterson of Peoria, Illinois, and Randy (Susan) Peterson of Peoria, Illinois; ten grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two brothers: Delbert (Mardell) Peterson of Brookings, and Norman (Janice) Peterson of Sioux Falls; three sisters: Agnes Bartholomew of Kirkhoven, Minnesota, Lorraine Schwiesow of Boltsville, Maryland, and Fern (Lyle) Allison of Brookings; nieces and nephews; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four brothers; and two sisters.
