I am saddened that my friend John has passed. I knew John first from the softball field many years ago. John was a good sportsman that really enjoyed the team environment and outdoors. Although we were never on the same team, we both enjoyed the friendly competition. I later got to know John better as a businessman and serving together on the Presbyterian Church Board of Trustees. Although John always had a lot of irons in the fire, he always seemed to have time to devote to his duties as a Trustee. John and I worked on many projects together from Spring Cleanup Day to maintenance and improvement projects. Together we organized and accomplished many projects.
I will truly miss John's enthusiasm and optimism. He had a great sense of humor and always had a smile. John was hopelessly devoted to his family and was very proud of their accomplishments. John was taken from us way too soon but considering the difficulties he and his family endured, I sincerely appreciate the fact that he is now resting in peace. My condolences to Dawn and their children for their premature loss.

Dawn, John, Britti, Josh,& FamilySo, so sorry with the passing of John. He was one of the most optimistic persons that I ever met. I first drove him to Sioux Falls for dialysis in July of last year, and for most weeks after that until my last trip with him 2 weeks ago. He still had that glimmer of hope.
I could see that the support of his family and friends kept him going, even tho he was struggling to the very end. He was SO proud of his family. John left us way too soon.
I lost a true friend who became a part of my life. May he rest in peace, as he will be a wonderful angel.

I just heard of John's passing this last weekend. He was such a great guy. He was my sister's realtor and then became mine when I lived in Brookings.
I loved the story he told me of how you met and that he was teaching aerobics.
You probably don't remember me because we only met a few times, but we are distantly related. Sharon Andree is my Aunt. My mom and Jens are brother and sister.
I also think you work with my brother Brian Rook.
I am sad for your loss, but I am sure you have some great memories.
