Life Legacy


Evangeline Wiener, age 90, of White, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at the White Healthcare Center in White, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in White, with interment in Fairview Cemetery at White. Visitations will be from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in White.

Evangeline Vera (Thomssen) Wiener was born August 21, 1914, at Trosky, Minnesota, to Alfred and Lillian (Jetter) Thomssen. She attended school in White, graduating from high school in 1932. She attended Madison Normal School and taught country school for six years. On June 21, 1939, she married Frank Wiener at White. The couple farmed at various farms, and in 1949 moved to a farm near White where they lived until 1979, when they moved into town.

Evangeline was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church and the ladies aid. She was devoted to reading her Bible daily.

Survivors include her husband, Frank, of White; a son, James (Shirley) Wiener, of White; a daughter, Carol (Fred) Blacksmith, of Park Forest, Illinois; a daughter-in-law, Janet Wiener, of Volga; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert, in 1998; a great-grandson, Zane; two brothers; and three sisters.
