Life Legacy

Dulania Frances (Churchill) Chenoweth was born September 14, 1910, at Keswick, Iowa, to Clinton and Rosa (Shafranek) Churchill. She died Thursday, February 6, 2003, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Dulania grew up in the Keswick area, and attended Keswick High School. She later went on to have nurses training in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dulania married Alfred S. Chenoweth on July 26, 1930, in Mitchell, South Dakota. The couple moved to Brookings in 1936 and farmed. They later moved to Texas in 1969 and retired. Alfred died on March 22, 1992 in McAllen, Texas. Dulania moved back to Brookings in 1992.

Dulania was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brookings, the Texas Tourist Club, the Fountain Extension Club, and was active in many circles in her church in Brookings and Texas. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking, and volunteering her time to help others.

Survivors include four daughters: Patty (Jim) Jensen of Arlington, South Dakota, Berniece (Bill) Koester of DeSmet, South Dakota, Delores (Clarence) Buschenfeld of Toronto, South Dakota, and Alberta (George) Schulte of Aurora, South Dakota; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, three brothers, and an infant son.
